Victoria Area Fibre Optic Network

The Project

BCNET has extended  high-capacity, fibre-optic networks to six new research universities, hospitals and institutes involved in leading-edge research in the Victoria area. Scientists and researchers at these institutions can leverage BCNET's high-speed, advanced network to access large, sophisticated data sets and collaborate with national and international peers.

BCNET also built a secondary fibre-optic network to the University of Victoria's main campus to provide an essential backup connection to the Internet, CANARIE, and BCNET.
